How do I create an account? You can create an account online — click here to register a new account. Waste Facilities are not required to register, unless you also consign tyre waste for transport to another location in NSW.
Do I need a QR2id Plate? All waste facilities in NSW that that receive asbestos and/or tyre waste must display a Blue QR2id Location Plate to enable transporters to register the delivery of consignments. Plates are optional for tyre waste consignors, but are necessary for some location based functions that enhance efficiency in managing collection of consignments. Do I need to be logged in when scanning a QR2id Plate? No, but you must be logged in to interact with consignments when picking up or delivering to a Waste Facility.
What if I am not logged in when scanning a QR2id Plate? Look for the “Login For More Options” button to login to your WasteLocate Account. Once logged in information will be presented to you in the context of your role and the QR2id Code that has been scanned.
What is the best scanning App? WasteLocate can be used with most any QR Scanning App from the App Store of your choice. However, Amtac has developed the QR2id App to tightly integrate with WasteLocate, and work across the three major smart phone operating systems. The QR2id App is now available for Apple and Android mobile devices, as well as Windows Phones.
I've forgotten / lost my password You can reset your password online — click here to reset your password. Please note that after a number of failed login attempts your account will be locked. Please contact your administrator or support to have your account unlocked.
GPS Location not working You can check if WasteLocate can access the GPS on your smart phone / Tablet — click here to check and for some tips and hints. Please note that different phones, operating systems and browsers have different ways of managing permisions around your location. One option to avoid possible confusion is to get the QR2id App and ensure you set it to allow access to your location, when prompted.

What is WasteLocate? If you transport asbestos waste, asbestos soils or waste tyres, you may be required to use EPA’s WasteLocate. WasteLocate tracks each load of asbestos or tyre waste from pick up to disposal using the GPS in your smart device. It generates a unique consignment number just like a parcel in the post. WasteLocate was developed to help prevent illegal dumping of asbestos and tyres.
Do I need to use WasteLocate? Tracking waste tyres using WasteLocate Tyre consignors, transporters and facilities transporting or receiving waste tyres in NSW weighing more than 200 kilograms or consisting of 20 or more tyres in one load must track and report this waste to the EPA using WasteLocate. Tracking asbestos waste using WasteLocate Asbestos transporters and facilities receiving asbestos waste in NSW, weighing more than 100 kilograms or consisting of more than 10 square metres of asbestos sheeting in one load, must track and report this waste to the EPA using WasteLocate. Tracking contaminated soils using WasteLocate People transporting asbestos contaminated soil in NSW, weighing more than 100 kilograms, must track and report this waste to the EPA using WasteLocate.
